QGIS Lab03 Fall14: QGIS Openlayer Plugin, Geocoding, Bulk Geocoding, and Raster Analysis

Introduction:

This is third video tutorial in urdu language for QGIS. It is overview lecture on basic tasks such as openlayer, geocoding and raster analysis.

    1. I assume that you already have polygon in Open Street Map and you want to download it to your computer and show as polygon layer in QGIS. If so, then, followings are steps:
      1. Open latest version of QGIS. Zoom to the region of your interest. You can do this by adding a base map from google or openstreet using openlayers plugin (Web > Openlayers plugin).
      2. Alternately you need to know the minimum and maximum latitude and longitude of the region of your interest.
      3. Go to Vector > OpenStreetMap > Download data.
      4. Select extent from map canvas in case you have zoomed to the region of your interest or enter the max and min coordinates of the region manually.
      5. Browse the path for output folder and press OK to download data.
      6. Go to Layer>Add Vector Layer (Ctrl+Shift+V) and specify downloaded OSM to load.
      7. Select all features to load. You can save back the polygon as shape file.
      8. In case if file size of OSM is large, then, you need to increase file size from Settings>Options, then, select Network tab from left pan and specify Size[KiB].
